Show ERNEST BOYER IS JAYCEE'S NEW PRESIDENT Project Renewed to Send Service People The Herald Ernest Boyer was elected president presi-dent of the Springville Junior Chamber of Commerce at the regular meeting - last Thursday evening at Memorial hall. He succeeds Kay Johnson, who was made a state director. Other officers elected include: Melvin Haymond, first vice-president; Wallace Patrick, second vice-president; A. H. Mortensen, Steven Miller, Taylor Burt, Paul Haymond, Verl Whiting, Karl Alleman, directors, the first three named being for two years and the latter three, one-year directors. direc-tors. The secretary and treasurer will be appointed and announced later. The meeting also featured moving mov-ing picture slides by Merrill Niel-son, Niel-son, forest ranger of Spanish Fork, and reports by the retiring president on activities for the past year. Also, Ralph Child, chairman of the Herald subscription drive, reported on this project. He stated that a drive is now being conducted to raise funds to continue sending the paper to boys and girls in the service. Tickets are being sold for 50 cents each, and the lucky one will receive re-ceive a $50 bond. This drive will close the first week in April and the winner announced April 6. A total of over 400 Springville Herald papers are now going to the service people peo-ple each week through efforts of the Jaycees and townspeople. With new men going into the service each month and renewals on other . subscriptions coming due, the proect is abig one, and the Jaycees solicit the support of everyone in this undertaking. Boxes for depositing tickets will be placed at the Haymond Drug store. j |
