Mr. F. A. Berrett, chairman of the local price panel, states there are inquiries coming to the price secretary regarding ceiling prices of used items on which there is no ceiling on person to person sales. These people are asked to refrain from excessive overcharges as a matter of loyalty, however, regard-w,. regard-w,. f thP fact that they are not icm - controlled by a ceiling, and to charge only three-fourths the value when new of the house furnishings fur-nishings or other equipment. This is the ceiling price allowed to places of business engaged in the sale of such used goods. While it is true that many calls come in from careful persons on the sale of merchandise not covered cov-ered on individual sales, it is also true that many fail to investigate the prices of items on which there is a ceiling on person-to-person sales. This is true especially with mechanical refrigerators and on washing machines. All of these items have a dollar and cent ceiling ceil-ing price which can be determined by calling price secretary at the local board. The item you are pricing, if it " is in good condition and can be used with efficiency without repair, is worth three-fourths the value of the new merchandise. All merchandise in the store should be tagged with the ceiling price. |
