Show DR. FREDERICK DUNN DIES AT HOME IN SPRINGVILLE Dr. Frederick Dunn, 80, promi- superintendent of the Utah State hospital at Phovo, and a major in World War I, died Sunday at 10 p. m., following a heart attack, at the family residence, 145 North Main street, Springville. He was born at Perry, HI., Jan. 29, 1864, a son of Harvey and Abbie Roberts Dunn. He received his early education in the public schools and the high school -at Perry, and in 1882 entered Rush Medical college at Chicago, 111., where he received his M. D. in 1855, and shortly after began his practice in Council Grove, Kan. He came to Utah and settled in Springville in 1891, and had made his home in this city since. For a number of years he was physician for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Wes-tern railroad. He was a member Inf tine Nebo school board for twen- ty years. From 1917 to 1919 he served as' a major in the U. S. army in World War I, spending one year in France. From 1920 to 1921, he was assistant physician to Dr. George's. Hyde, at the Utah State hospital, Provo, and in 1921 was made superintendent of the Utah State hospital, which position he held until 1932. Dr. Dunn was one of the founders found-ers of the Utah Wholesale Grocery company, in which he was vice-(Continued vice-(Continued on page ten) Second L. D. He also was vice-president and a director of the American Wholesale Grocery company of Seattle, Wash., and vice-president of the Springville Banking company. Dr. Dunn served one term as mayor of Springville city. He was a member of the American Legion and the Springville Kiwanis club. He. married Delia Bringhurst on September 6, 1892, at Springville. She died November 26, 1940. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sterling (Aileen) Price, of Springville; two grandsons, Cap-fain Cap-fain Fred Price, U. S. army air corps, Santa Barbara, Calif., Bill Price, a premedical student at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, Cal.; one brother and three sisters, Charles Dunn, Peoria, Peor-ia, HI.; Mrs. Raphael Shoemaker, North Adams, Mass.; Mrs. Gideon Armentrout, Anacortes, Wash.; Miss Aileen Dunn, Perry, HI. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Thursday at 2 p. m. in the |
