Show Students Invited To Journalism Meet at T Dec. 1 Student journalists from Springville Spring-ville high school have been inivted to participate in the annual Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Journalism conference at Erigham Young University on Dec. 1. Five hundred delegates are expected from more than 50 schools in Utah and surrounding states. Conference attenders will receive re-ceive practical instruction, from Utah newspapermen and other guest speakers on effective publi-; cation methods for school newspapers, news-papers, magazines and yearbooks. A total of 21 separate sessions have been arranged for editorial staffs, advertising staffs, photographers, photo-graphers, broadcasters and faculty advisors. With the assistance of the Utah State Press Assocaition and the Utah Association of Journalism Directors Di-rectors a special discussion will be devoted to cooperation between community newspapers and school journalism departments in providing pro-viding the public with important news of their schools. Another feature of the conference confer-ence will be the awarding oL. six $50 scholarship prizes in the annual an-nual contests in news, editorial and feature writing for high school students. The contests are sponsored spon-sored by the BYU journalism department de-partment and Utah newspapers. An invitation has also been sent to the local school to send yearbook and newspapre examples for inclusion in a special exhibit of school publications to be on display dis-play at the conference. |
