A lot of the boys and girls missed the dance for the track meet at Snow and then it was called off. Mad? I'll say. Believe me, I TRIED to get almost al-most everyone's name and according ac-cording to my estimate ... if everyone ev-eryone paid they would have taken in about a hundred and ten dollars on just who I've mentioned here.S And if you think I was going to sit down and write everyone's name at the dance you're stupid Harsh words. If you got left out, knock me down at the next dance, and if all else fails, write your name on a slip of paper and mail it in. And you people who DON'T want your name mentioned pust keep the Springville Herald away from Mama. It's your problem, not mine. By the way, there was a lot freer atmosphere after the Promenade when some of the papas pa-pas and mamas went home. Springville did alright at the commercial contest. I nearly passed pass-ed out when I got mentioned for accuracy. You can see where I got my experience from though, can't you ? There's no mistake like misspelling someone's name. Like Mark Twain (Old buddy of mine), when he was a cub reporter the man told him (never mind WHAT man), that he must always give strict facts, and if he didn't know the facts to not mention it at all. So he wrote this little item in his next society column: "A lady giving her name as Mrs. James Jones, who is reported to be one of the society leaders of the city, is said to have given what purported to be a party yesterday yest-erday to a number of alleged ladies. lad-ies. The hostess claims to the wife of a reputed attorney." Brother, he was carefuller than I am. And if you've heard this before, quit reading the Reader's Digest. You can see how it is though. Well, hello, Friends, (I hope both of you are feeling well, like the time I was down town, yes, I am downtown once in a while, and I says to Daddy, 1 says, "Ray (that's his name, Ray) . . . Ray, i I says, gimme a nickle to call up a friend, "and he says, "Here's' a dime, call up both of them . . "), this week I don't have to talk about the weather, call the teachers teach-ers names, dig up ancient jokes ! (?), or crab about school. I have all my space filled up with names. : But let's start from the beginning I we had an assembly Friday with i a couple of Hawaiian dancers and the best ukelele player we've ever seen (of course, I've never seen one before . . . but he sure was cute). He played the Stars and Stripes Forever which is hard enough for a full orchestra, (I wonder how an orchestra plays when it's full?). The sophomores drew for a picture which was to boost their Art Queen, the seniors made a mint on their carnivals, and what do the Juniors do? You guessed it, they just go in the hole. We'll be lucky if our Queen get's to unveil a window. The school paper came out and there was the usual crabbing about not getting their names in the paper, or getting them in . . it all sounded sound-ed vaguely familiar to me. . ah, ha, but THIS time I didn't have to take the blame. Just WAIT till I get the so-and-so that put MINE in that April Fool's Column. Col-umn. If I wrote something like that in here, I'd have a Libel suit on my hands. With Seminary graduation coming up, a lot of girls wouldn't mind having a suit on their hands. VER-y FUN-ny . . I KNOW I can do better than that. Well, the Prom committee and helpers did a beautiful job on the decorations, and if they didn't let TOO many people in free they might even have enough to pay for them. Here are some of the people we saw, if you had your eyes open you might have seen them, too. Well, here goes, get out your spectacles, Grandma: - JoEll Meyrick "and John S wen-sen, wen-sen, who are now officially engaged, en-gaged, Mary Nell Alleman and Dutch Hall, Colleen Lee and Russell Rus-sell Mendenhall, Gilda Ann Packard Pack-ard and Don Gottfredson, Janet Peay and Lloyd Madsen, Milan Packard and Sidney Anderson, Jay Haymond and Patsy Bills, Karen Alleman and Neil Beardall, Ann Patrick and Jay Liechty, Paul Gottfredson and Marion Bird, Don Bybee and Joy Fullmer, Ronnie Roylance and Colette Palfreyman, Curtis Ewing and Eunice Fletcher, Leland Ford and Ruth Ann Jensen, Jen-sen, Jeannine Wightman and Blaine Frazier, Sonny Snyder and Lela Olsen (who was up to the Rainbow Randevu Saturday night with Jim Cranmer), Margaret Shipp and Kent Diamond.
