Show 1 s Springville Makes Fine 'Record In Dist. Contests i Springville high school Commercial Commer-cial students took the Lions share :of places at the recent Region 3 ' contests conducted in Provo, it - would seem from results announced announ-ced this week. Students entered ; under direction of G. Ray Rales and Reese Anderson, instructors, k- Geraldine Wilson took first place : in First Year Bookkeeping garnering garner-ing 225 points of a possible 248. Mark Larsen of the local high school came third. Provo took :, second and fourth and Spanish iFork, fifth. .f In Second Year Typing, Shar-Jene Shar-Jene Wentz. of Springville high ,' scored 87 and Elaine Jesse 79, to . place fourth and fifth. Miss Jessie also won second place in accuracy. I! Eva Carol Leslie took fourth ' place in the First Year Shorthand contest scoring 96.50. Darla Robbins captured first s - place in district contests in Second Year Shorthand making 98.20. Ruth Ann Jensen also of Springville Spring-ville came second with a score of 96.90; Marilyn Johnson, 4th with 93.80; The team prize for this particular contest also went to Springville. In First Year Typewriting, Virginia. Vir-ginia. Miner of the local high school took fifth place with a score of 74. The accuracy prize in First Year Type went to Sylvia Scovil of the Springville high school with 73. A total of 13 schools from Lehi on the north to Nephi on the south entered the contests held, throughout through-out the day. The local school took two individual in-dividual first places out of five and two accuracy awards in first and second year typing. |
