Show AUDITOR TESTIFIES IN BANK LITIGATION Testimony of J. W. Kdmunds, auditor, of his lindings in going over the books of the Utah Packing Provision company com-pany and the Sullivan Piaster Block company, com-pany, filled the proceedings yesterday In the trial of John Pinprce, in progress in Judge John F. Tobiu's division of the Third district "ourt, on a charge of knowingly know-ingly receiving deposits in the Merchants, bank after it was insolvent. M r. Edmunds testified that the books of iho Utah Packing & Pi o vis Ion company com-pany show the company to have been lcsing mciipy i,Uadlly befcre tho failure of Die bank, and that the loss totaled Si25,2.-0.fij by September 30, 191S. Hp aid that the bank carried $15,000 of overdrafts for the company as c;'sh Items, not bearing bear-ing any interest. This overdraft, tiie witness wit-ness testified, was later taken up by transfer of preferred stock to tho bank at a par value of $H0 a share. With regard to the Sullivan Plaster Ptock company, the witness testified that, whllo only IO.'iOO shares of (he company's .stock had been issued at a lace v.due of 110,(100, it w;is credited on the books of tho bank with SL'T.OOO worth of stock. |
