Show Glass Appeals to Women for Loan's Success WASHINGTON, May 8. Secretary Secre-tary Glass today sent the following fol-lowing message broadcast through the woman's Liberty loan committee to tho women of America: ' ' The women of the United States have made instant and magnificent response to every call which the government gov-ernment has made to them. Through the five Liberty loans they have served with devotion, with zeal, and with self-sacrificing patriotism. They have bought bonds to the limit of their purchasing power, and sold bonds to the limit of human powers of endurance, of persuasion and of steadfastness in purpose. "Even with the armistice signed, 1 they have never ceased in their un-j un-j swerving devotion to duty. In this j Victory Liberty loan they have been i pillars of power and towers of j strength in the selling organization, j Undaunted by obstacles and discour- j agements, they have held their posts, i At this crisis of the loan the gov-j gov-j emment of the United States again I sounds the bugle of further advance, j "In keen realization of what women have already done in this and ! other campaigns, the treasury calls to them iu these closing days of the j lean for service in a final rush upon the field that will take tho loan over the last trenches.'' |
