Show HEALTH REM FCSTY PRAISED Campaign to Advertise Salt Lake as Resort Urged by J. W. Jacobs. That Salt Iake. with its hot springs, its climate and Its close proximity to tho mountains can be made one of the world'd most Important health resorts was the opinion expressed by John W. Jacobs, executive secretary of the Utah Public Health association, yesterday noon in a talk before members of the Commercial club. Mr. Jacobs urged that a campaign he started to advertise Salt Lake and Utah to health seekers. The movement, he Bald, would get the full cooperation of the Public Health association. Mr. Jacobs, In commenting or. the mortality mor-tality rate in Salt Lake, said that it was lower than In any other city of Its eizn in the United States. He attributed , this, first, to the natural hf-allh-giving qualities of the climate and the surroundings surround-ings of the city, and, next, to the efficiency effi-ciency of the health department. He outlined out-lined the work being carried on in the public schools by the health officials, and said the communities of all sections of lh country are watching Sal t Lake and Its health system. Salt Lake, Mr. Jacobs said, hus better water than most cities. Milk sold here, he .a!d, has been proved In tests to be much better than milk sold in other cities as the best grade. He declared the health department official! here art- tho highest paid in the United Slates and that the department has obtained results uncqualed in any part of the country. In closing Mr. Jacobs urged that business busi-ness men of the city take more exercise, adding that the healthful advantages given the city and surrounding country by nature were not taken full advantage of by Salt Lake residents. Dr. Charles G. Plummer presided at the meeting. |
