Show BEAVER COUNTY lNFSffllF Shoot on Gold Crown Property Prop-erty Persists With Development De-velopment to Depth. Capitol Company Pushes Work; Humboldt Plans Early Operations. Mining operations in Beaver county are attracting considerable attention, according accord-ing to James ICirk, manager of the Cold Crown Mining company, who arrived in lite city yesterday. Information from reliable re-liable sources states that New York Interests Inter-ests have effected the consolidation of the Moscow, Red Warrior and Combination Combina-tion properties. Operation of these properties prop-erties haj been prevented for years by litigation. In the past, tho oro bodies in theso mines have produced heavily and. it is said, that large deposits still remain for exploitation. Development of the various va-rious showings exposed in tho extensive workings of theso mines will be begun, from tho 1400 level of tho now Moscow shaft. " " Recent developments at the Gold Crown mine are beginning to challenge the value of the theory that tho deposits of Beaver countv do not persist to depth, says Mr. Kirk. Tho shoot of high grade followed from the surface on tlie Gold Crown property by an inclined shaft to the loO level gives every sign of permanence; values and size of tho ahoot arc Increasing Increas-ing with depth. 1 Size of Vein Extensive. The shoot, from which shipments of ore have been made netting the company on an average of ?6 per ton. lies in an extensive vein, that, according to. Mr. Kirk, on a -surface in places is 300 feet wide. From fifty to sixty "feet of a brec-ciated, brec-ciated, carboniferous lime containing considerable con-siderable iron and manganese, are found in this vein. The' shoot of ore is generally gener-ally found ten or twelve feet , from the white dolomite foot wall. In places near the surface the ore was only a streak. Kldnevs of rich ore were frequently found." At a distance of 250 feet from the surface, the shoot began to open up until the face of the crosscut going south from the main shaft on the 450 level has three and a half feet of high grade silver-lead ore showing oxides, chlorides and sulphides. sul-phides. . . In addition to this showing, another important development bas taken place in tho drift being run north from the main shaft to cut at a depth of 500 feet a quartzite contact which traverses the countrv and ibe Humboldt and Capitol properties adjoining the Gold Crown with S3uthwest-northeast strike and a northwest north-west dip. A system of veins running p.-ross the Gold Crown intersect the contact con-tact near the objective of the north drift. Sa-pies taken from one of the veins on the surface of the Blue John claim ran as high as torty per cent copper, according accord-ing to Mr. Kirk. . Conditions Promising. Encouraging conditions are attending the work in this north drift. A seam of carbonate ore lias been followed for some distance: and kidneys of red copper oxide ox-ide ore are being frequently encountered. Samples brought up from the mine by Mr Kirk are highly mineralized. Assays of ore similar to the red copper oxide samples taken from the north drift have shown, it is said twenty-two per cent copper and forty-four ounces of silver. At the intersection of the north drift with the quartzite contact 150 feet farther. Mr Kirk expects to find excellent excel-lent showings. At the Capitol mine, a short distance from the Gold Crown and adjoining the Humboldt property, work is being steadily stead-ily prosecuted, according to J. M. Reynolds, Rey-nolds, well-known mining man of Beaver county and secretary of the Capitol company. com-pany. Recently, it Is reported from the mine, a streak of r.ch silver-lead ore was encountered; the size and Importance of the strike is not yet known. The Humboldt Mining company, whose propertv adjoins the Gold Crown, organized organ-ized in Vtah and financed by California capitalists, is perfecting matters of organization or-ganization and expecting to begin operations opera-tions bv the first or middle of January. Mr RevnoWs will leave Friday for Mil-ford Mil-ford to take a number of California nien over the property. |
