Show ASPEN DISTRICT MINE ACTIVITY INCREASES ASPEN, Colo., Nov. 26. High prices for silver have brought a mining boom to this famous silver camp. Virtually every project Is being worked and the four tunnels under operation are being pushed with feverish activity in an effort ef-fort to reach the ore bodies while the price remains high. Most of tho properties ivero closed during dur-ing the earlv part of the present decade v.-hen silver dropped to forty-seven cents, but now even low grade propositions are being operated with profit. In one of the mines, operators say sufficient ore lias been blocked out to insure operations for many years. A flotation mill has been c-rected at the entrance of the tunnel of th's propertv. One streak of pay ore was found to assay as high as 30,000 ounces lQ Some"' of the Airpen properties have netted millions of dollars to their owners in past years. In Leadvllle mining activity is reported, prospectors searching actively for nen loads None of the large older properties have been reopened, it is reported. |
