Nov. ;s.The Socialist organ, Avanti. today warns the government that d'Annunaio is preparing a surprise descent de-scent on Trieste. The newspaper pays that d'Annunzio abandoned his original intention of effecting a landing at An-cor. An-cor. a, but recently sent emissaries to sound local officers at Trieste, giving ground fpr the belief that he Is aiming at the establishment there of a military government. gov-ernment. Rear Admiral Mtllo. who has acted as governor of Dalmatla as well as commander com-mander of the occupation forces in that country, has resigned the former office. I Rear Admiral Enrico Millo recently has j taken a prominent part in developments I along the Dalmatian coast. When Captain Gabrtele d'Annunzio. who has held Flume : for the last two months with his "irregular-' Italian troops. landed at Zara. south of Fiurnc. November H. he- waa welcomed by Admiral Millo. who later swore allegiance alle-giance to the d'Annunzio movement. Uis action was deprecated in a semiofficial statement Issued at Rome, but it was said Admiral 10Uo would remain in his position posi-tion pending decision by the government as to what steps it would pursue. Admiral Millo's title to the "governorship" "governor-ship" of Dalmatla was apparently solely by virtue of appointment by d'Annunxio. An account of d'Annunzio's expedition to Zara, cab.ed from Rome last Saturday, said that d'Annunzio. In his speech to the people of Zara, concluded by presenting Admiral Millo as the "first governor of Italian Da.matia." It was stated that afterward Admiral Millo announced that he had sent a telegram to Rome accepting accept-ing the governorship of Dalmatla "in the name of the king of Italy." Indications from today's dispatch appear ap-pear to be that, in compliance with the wishes of the Rome government. Admiral Millo has renounced the title bestowed upon him by the d'Annunzio expedition. |
