Jones entertained twenty guests at a dinner party on Wednesday Wednes-day night in honor of her husband's birthday at her home, 369 Fifth East street. : Teachers and pupils in the kindergarten kinder-garten department of the. University of Utah gave a dance Friday evening in the Stewart building. Girls were entertained by Miss Mary Andrews Saturday in honor of prospective members. Miss Andrews An-drews was assisted by Miss Kthcl Melville Mel-ville and Miss Kuth Christie. Thursday evening the members of the Young" Ladies' Sodality entertained their friends at the Soldiers' club. A candy pull was one of the features of the evening. A musical program followed. fol-lowed. Miss Mnrgaret Falk and Miss Marguerite Kelly gavo several vocal selections accompanied by Miss Corinne Maupin on the violin and Miss Ethel liogau at the piano. Miss Mamie Schuttcr and Miss Marie Ridd were hostesses yesterday afternoon after-noon at a luncheon for Miss Thalia Coffman, a November bride. The decorations dec-orations wero piuk roses and kewpie dolls dressed as brides. The guests were Miss Blanche Peeslev, Miss T.n-cile T.n-cile Smith, Miss Mary Beattv. Friday afternoon at the home of Eugene Eu-gene Taylor a surprise party was given by sou.: of his young friends. The house was decorated in the class colors and tea was served by the girls of the party. Later cards and dancing were enjoyed. Personal Mrs. A. C. Hinckley and daughter, Miss Marian Hinckley, and Mrs. K. M. Chandler, of Pocatello, have been at tho Hotel Utah the past week. Mrs. Bcruice 0. Richardson has returned re-turned from a several weeks' trip to Los Angeles. ' e Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Gulbranson and little daughter, Mary Norcne, left Saturday Sat-urday for New Orleans, and will sail from there to Santiago, Chile, to make their home. Mrs. Gulbranson was formerly for-merly Miss Gladys O 'Neill, daughter of Mrs. F. J. O'Neill. Mrs. II. E. Callahan will leave today to-day for an extended eastern trip. Mrs. Callahan will first visit in Denver aud will then go to New York to remain several mouths. Mrs. Union A'. Worthington has gone to Denver for a several weeks' visit. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hulterstrom left Thursday for an extended trip through California and the northwest. Mr. and Mrs. Verd Marks, formerh-of formerh-of this city, whose marriage was recently re-cently announced, will make their home in San Diego, Cal. Mrs. Marks was Miss Rena Harris. L. A. Marks left this week for Los Angeles, Cal., to join Mrs. Marks and family, who arc spending the -winter there. Their daughter, Miss Louise Marks, has entered the Comnoek School of Expression, and their son. La Thair, is attending high school for manual arts training. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Trimmer are now at home at the Bransford apartments. apart-ments. Alfred Peabody, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Peabody, has returned to Salt Lake after a four years' absence spent in Philadelphia aud at Camp Humphreys, Hum-phreys, Ya., aud Washington, D. C, where he received military- training. Miss Georgia B. Hartley has returned from a several weeks' visit to Chicago and Peoria, 111. Mrs. Mareia Snow Parker, formerly of this city and now of Prescott, Ariz., is the guest of Mrs. Lillian Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Jeffs of Los Angeles An-geles arc visiting at the home of Mrs. Jeffs's parents, Colonel and Mrs. E. A. Wall. Mrs. Gibson Berry and baby, of Round Mountain, Nov., have been at the Hotel Utah the past week on their way to Henderson, Ky., to spend Christmas Christ-mas with relatives of Mr. Berry. Mrs. Ralph Guthrie is spending several sev-eral months at Long Beach, Cal. Mrs. Guthrie made the trip to California by automobile. Mr. and Mrs. Louis H. Carwile are receiving congratulations over the arrival ar-rival of a little daughter, born at St. Mark's hospital Monday morning. Mrs. Carwile was formerly Miss Le Vera Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Charles Miller arrived ar-rived in Salt Lake Wednesday evening from a visit to New York. Mr. and Mrs. W. Edward Fife have returned from an extended eastern trip. Miss Reba Crow loft Wednesday for Los Angeles to visit with her sister, Mrs. A. D. Rutherford. Mrs. Luella C. Brigham and daughter, Virginia, of Boston are expected Tues day for a brief visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. A. Clavton. Mrs. John Thomas of Gooding, Idaho, state chairman of civics of the Idaho Federation of Women's clubs, and Mrs. John West Hill of Pocatello arrived Saturday to attend the meeting of the Utah League of Women Voters. Mrs. F. W. Dronitr.crhnusen and daughter, Glcnora, have left for San Diego, Cal., where they expect to spend the winter. Miscellaneous Events Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Solandcr entertained enter-tained the members of the Car-Ltidan club Thursday evening at their home on West First South street. The evening eve-ning was spent playing Five Hundred and dancing. Supper was served. Pink and white carnations in a crystal bowl formed a centerpiece for the supper table. Sixteen guests wero present. Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Papworth will entertain the club at their home on Ninth East street November 29. Miss Thalia Coffman. a November bride, was tho guest of honor at a ken-sington ken-sington given Wednesday evening by Miss Florence Peterson, Miss Janet McMurrin and Miss Flora Salm at the home of Miss Salm on Wilson avenue. The house was decorated with autumn leaves and fall flowers. Musical selections se-lections were given by Miss Mildred Locke and Miss Lucile Pyper. The gvests numbered eighteen. a The B. M. club was entertained Monday Mon-day evening by Miss Octavia Drake at her home, 30 South Tenth East street. Mr. and Mrs. Dilworth Woolley entertained en-tertained their card club Thursday Thurs-day evening at their homo on South Eighth East street. After the card games a late supper was served. Yellow Yel-low chrysanthemums were used in the decorations of the dining table and living liv-ing rooms. The club members present were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Francis, Mr. and Mrs. Will Hayes, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Will Naylor, Mr. and Mrs. Roswell Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. John Deardorff. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur H. Park and Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton G. Park entertained en-tertained at a dancing party Monday night in honor of Arthur L. Park of the Seventy-ninth division, and Laurence Lau-rence Park of the air service. The rooms were decorated with patriotic colors, while the entrance to the house was camouflaged to represent a dugout. A sentry challenged the guests as they arrived. When the mess call was sounded the guests lined up and were served in military style. Various former for-mer service men were assigned to special spe-cial duties. Sergeant Washburn C. Hunter, 115th field artillery, was mess sergeant; Lieutenant E. G. Chamberlain, Forty-sixth field artillery, had charge of the canteen; Lieutenant Thad Stevens, Ste-vens, aerial corps, was 1 ' K. P.,'' and Lieutenant Floyd Leaver was "M. P." Those present were Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Bock, Mr. and Mrs. Thad Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. W. C.
