V. football boys, although they have but ono victory vic-tory to their credit this season, have shown ap remarkably well. The ban on football at the school was onlv lifted after the grid season began, and", consequently, Coach Tillie Oleson was a littV late in starting practice. In addition, he had to form a team from players who had had little or no experience at the grid game. The first g&me for the Saints was played with the East high. The Leopards Leop-ards had no difficulty in subduing their opponents, the final score being 14S to 0. This affair gave Oleson a lino on his material, and ho was able to strengthen the eleven, both on the line and in tho backfield. The Saints' next game was with Jordan, Jor-dan, and although beaten, they put up a much better brand of football than ihey had displayed in their initial contest. con-test. The pcore this time was 13 to 7. The following week the L. D. S. 0. succeeded in defeating Park City, 13 to 0. Tn the game wi'h Granite the Paints played their best football of the year. The score was 13 to 0 for Granite, but tbQ Red and Blue players were forced to the utmost to emerge victorious. The Granitians 6COred both of their touchdowns touch-downs near the end of the second half. The last game in which the Saints participated went to the Weber Xormal :leven bv the score of 26 to 0. Roy Worthlin and Richard Iverson played in every contest for the Gold and Blue. Captain LeRoy Sanders, who was injured early in the season, was nut of the majority of the games, but he has always been on hand to advise thoEe who were able to play. Ray Margetts, Paul Cannon, Dwane Cand-land, Cand-land, and Joe Lindsay are some of the other Gold and Blue reliables. As most of the players will not graduate grad-uate this season it is quite likely that the school will be able to put a strong eVven on the field next year one that should be in the running for the division divi-sion championship. |
