Moulton, rector of Grace church of Lawrence, Mass., BX-s BX-s rived in Salt Lake early last evening, and . within the next week or two will confer with members of the Episcopalian clergy and visit various parts of the state to -determine whether or not he will accept the appointment of missionary Episcopal bishop of Utah, made recently at the i Protestant Episcopal church convention 1 in Detroit. The ofiice has been vacant since the resignation of the Rt. Rev. Paul Jones, formerly missionary Episcopal ? bishop, which was requested by the house of bishops because of his strong Socialistic J sympathy and pacifist utterances during the war. ji To Make Decision Soon. . Dr. Moulton said last night that he was not prepared to say what his answer would be to the offer that he become : bishop of Utah. He will make his de- J cision known, he said, .only alter he familiarizes himself with conditions here t and has had ample time to consider the matter. Because ft his late arrival yesterday yes-terday he had no opportunity to make a tour of Salt Lake, but will do so today, he said. He declared that he had heard a nothing but favorable comment on the beautv of the capital of Utah In the east. i Before Dr Moulton leaves for his home in Lawrence It is his Intention to visit i Logan, Provo and Ogden and some of the f mining towns. Yesterday's was not the Rev. Mr. Monl- t ton's first, meeting with Utah and Salt a Lake, although his previous acquaintance was quite cursory. Ten years ago he passed through Salt Lake, en route to Phoenix. Ariz., where he served as rector of Trinity church during the winter and 3 summer, relieving the pastor who had gone east to be consecrated bishop. Consecration in East. The decision of the visitor In regard to 3 accepting or rejecting the bishopric of the 5 state will be communicated to Bishop Daniel S. Tuttle. presiding bishop of the Episcopal church, if he accepts, he will I .be consecrated by the presiding bishop. the ceremonv to take place in the east, perhaps at Grace church, Lawrence. Mass.. he said last nighl. E Several weeks will be taken up with the t arrangements for the consecration if Dr. Moulton decides to become head of the church In Utah, according to an opinion ' expressed by him last night. Before he returns to Salt Lake, several more days 3 will be consumed in the completion of his affairs at Lawrence, he said last evening. Should he decide to take the position offered him here, no difficulty will be experienced In filling the pulpit at Grace 9 church. Dr. Moulton said. r His wife, their son. During the war he served overseas with the Red Cross. For dlstlnrruished service and devotion to duty In France he was honored with the Souvenir of Orleans. Dr. Moulton was born In Worcester. He was graduated from Hobart college with the degree of master of arts, and Is a graduate of the Episcopal school at Cambridge. Cam-bridge. Here he was awarder the degree of doctor of divinity in 1900.
