Show BEUEROPHQ! PISSES THE PROSPECT STAGE Assurance that the BeUerophon j mine In American Fork canyon has I passed from the prospect stage to that of a mine, and that at present there is enough high-grade ore in sight to iast for a long period, is given by George J. Kirby, mining engineer, who recently made an examination of the property. The mineral system consists of a bedded and east and west fissures. The bedded fissure lies relatively fiat and the east and west fissures almost vertical. At present, development de-velopment work is being undertaken only in the upper tunnel. Here the tunnel is being drifted along a bedded deposit at present eight feet wide, which carries ore that, after deducting all charges, wilt net the company from $80 to $100 per ton, according to Mr. Kirby. Another favorable condition is that every foot of development work is being carried forward for-ward in ore. Consequently, it is said, there is no lost labor. At present, from three to four tons of high grade and from six to eight tons of milling ore are being produced each shift. Two shifts have been put on in order to augment production, it is said. Mr. Kirby will leave in a few days for Rhodesia, South Africa, where he has interests in-terests in gold properties. Vast low-grade deposits of gold ore, which run in value from $7 to $11, are being developed and worked in this district. The ore is found at comparatively near the surface end continues, it is believed, far below the depths at which mining is practicable, i Mr. Kirby plans to return to Salt Lake in November. |
