Several men who won fame in years past entered the American nss vin-tion. vin-tion. and have been going the distance. They include Ed Walsh and Ro.t Patterson, both great pitchers for the White Sox in the old dsya. Big Ed Walsh, idol of thousands of fans, now Is with the Milwaukee club, which is in charge of Clarence How land, former leader of the White Sox. Rowland expressed confidence tha t Walsh was not through, and gave him a chance to stage his "comeback" against St. I'atil. Walsh mowed the hard hilt ing Saints with rase. A few days later Walsh went against the Kansas City club and won, 14 to 3. Now the fans are pulling for him to take his regular turn. Hoy Patterson Insisted he was "as good as ever" when Joe Caniillon told him he was going to use him as a coach. "Pa t" said if lu" couldn't be a regular he wouldn't eiga. The con tract wna signed nnd Patterson pitched for Minneapolis against Milwaukee. He went the entire distuned and his team wnn. (.'hurley ITall, another former hero of the big show, is gning well for St. Paul. At one time he starred for the Red Sot. Two years ago Manager Mike K-lley sent him to the Pacific Coast league.
