THE Salt Lake baseball club yesterday yester-day achieved an unparalleled feat In this town by completing the utter annihilation of an opposition nine. The Bees won the two final pames of the Portland series, making a clean sweep of the seven-game set. The scores in the Sunday double-header were: First game, Beavers 5, Bees 6; second game, Beavcrs 6, Bees 10. The overwhelming defeat of the Fort-landers Fort-landers on the Salt Lake grounds more than revenges the great wrong Buffered by the "Bees at the hands of McCredie's club at Portland a monLh ago, when the Ducks took six straight from the Herr Invaders. Not only did the Bes come back at the Beavers with Bix straight, tut also they made it decisive de-cisive by taking seven stra'ght. Inasft-iuch as San Francisco won both games from Seattle yesterday, the Salt I.akers still remain in fourth place, a whisker behind the Seals. The Angels' double victory over the Tigers gave both the Seals and the Bees a material lift in their relative positions to those clubs. Pitchmg Is Loose. Pitching in yesterday's game was loose, Penner's flinging w;ts not half bad, but his support was erratic and he is charged with losing a game in which he was responsible re-sponsible for only two runs, while h's opponent, op-ponent, Jean Dale, was responsible for five. Dale was extremely uns toady in almost every inning, but good fielding . behind htm gave him the victory. In the second game the Bees battered two Portland pitchers for sixteen fat hits, counting them ten runs, all of which were earned. Tlie visiting heavers to feol the shock of the local hickory wielders .were Sutherland and Schroeder. Cliff Marine' pave symptoms of unrest, but he didn't, fiave to extend himself very much to win ' with his mates doing so much healthy j stickwork. I The crowd was the second lanrert of ! the season, opening day alone exceeding j It in numbers and in coin.
