OGDEN, L'ec. -'.One of the most peculiar casu-s in the annals uf crime in Weber county is that of the ahegt-d forgeries comlt-ted comlt-ted by William Parson, a former for-mer service man. who is R'leged to have obtained 7:.00 from the Commercial Com-mercial National bank of Ogden, through systematic forgerh-s o: tne name of his brother, M. Parsons a cattleman of Nevada, who was doing do-ing his banking In Ogden by mail. After obtaining the. money Parsons is said to have gone to Hailey, Idaho, where he was arrested and" brought back to Ogdnn. lie confessed that h had rpent about MU'O, ami said he had buried the remainder. Deputy Sheriff Robert Burke went tc Hailey with Parsons,, and then the latter refused to redeem his promise. He was then brought back io Ogder., and declared that he Intended to let j the money remain hidden until after he had served his time in jail. During his Incarceration Parsons lias been visited several times by an attractive woman, who, although she haa not disclosed her name, Is said to have urged Parsons to deliver up the money and take his punishment. Yesterday Parsons advised the sheriff that he would jrlve up tho money. Karl v this morning- Deputv Sheriffs T. K. Blackburn and Joe Chadwlck left for Hailey with Parsons. Par-sons. Joseph E. Evans. Parson s's attorney, at-torney, accompanied his client to Hailey. No report had ben received at the sheriff's office late tonight as to the recovery of the money. I |
