While in Salt Lake Wednesday Wed-nesday and Friday, jMiss Billington will organize the girls of the West high school into a iinit of the- organization of which she is a field secretary. Ten thousand Salt Lake girls between ten and eighteen years of age are eligible for membership in "The Girl Reserves." said Miss Billington. The Kast high school girls have had such an organization in their schoo for the past Iwo years and the West high girls will have opportunity today and tomorrow to-morrow to organize such a club, according accord-ing to the field secretary. Panama, Hawaii ami France have organized the younger girls, and even China is requesting re-questing admittance to the organization. organiza-tion. The Girl Reserves are composed of Y. W. 0. A. girls who are attending grade schools, junior and freshman high Adiool girls, young girls in the industrial army and girls in the "Rainbow" "Rain-bow" and "Be Square" clubs, Patriotic Patri-otic league and other clubs. Adopting- the national slogan, "To Face Life Squarely," and the purpose, "To Find and Give the Best," .the Girl Reserves movement, according to Miss Billington. carries a spirit of uplift up-lift to the young girls. Explaining the purpose of the organization, Miss Billington said the organizing of all the younger girls into a separate body, distinct in itself, yet with the spirit of the Y. W. (.'. A., would lend strength to that class of girls who are more in need of aid than the older and more experienced girls. Unified with a better spirit and desirous de-sirous of doing that which is best and most helpful, Miss Billington said the organization was a success. " Forming their individual clubs, the girls obtain wholesome fun. recreation and education, educa-tion, all of which aids the. members in acquiring an all-around girlhood with a lull development. .Miss Billington will return to her headquarters at Denver Friday, after which she will go to Cheyenne, Wyo., for the purpose of organizing other clubs of the Girl Reserves. She is in charge of the organization work in Ftali. Colorado, Wyoming and Kansas. The Girls' Work secretary, with headquarters head-quarters at the Y. W. Ci. A. in Salt Lake, can furnish information to girls desirous of forming clubs. |
