Show UTE Oil MlGEif INSPECTS HOLDINGS Plant Employing' Wallace Process Being Installed in Uintah Basin-Hector Basin-Hector McRae of St. Louis, managing director of the Ute Oil company, is in Salt Lake after an extensive inspection of the company's holdings in the Uintah basin. He is accompanied by C. W. Curry, held suuerintendent of the Utah. The two officials of-ficials came to Salt Lake for a conference with Consulting Engineer D. II. Gustave-son. Gustave-son. One of the chief objects of Mr. Mc-Rae's Mc-Rae's visit to the Uintah country was to inspect the company's shale holdings in the vicinity of Watson, where the Ute is making arrangements to erect a 400-ton 400-ton oil shale reduction plant. The first car of material for the new plant. Mr. McRae reports, has been delivered at Watson and other shipments are being rushed to the district The Ute is installing a plant employing the Wallace process, a process about which comparatively littie is known in the intermountain region. According to reports a test of the process was made recently at the bureau of mines in Washington Wash-ington "on White river shales. The yield w-as 61.7 gallons of oil to the ton of shale and extraction was accomplished in fifty minutes. While here Mr. Curry expects to purchase pur-chase a fleet of motor trucks which the company contemplates using to transport the machinery from the railroad to the site for the plant on White river. The Ute is among the first companies to really start development of the oil resources re-sources of the Uintah basin. Ute w-ell No. 3 is down 1900 feet and recently encountered encoun-tered a strong flow of gas. Rotary rigs are being shipped in with a view to deeper drilling.
