Show PLEASURE AUTOS TO IIT FfflM REPAIRS Garages Must Give Precedence Prece-dence Now to Agricultural Agricul-tural Work. "W. F. Jensen, commissioner of commercial commer-cial economy, yesterday served notice on public garage owners and automobile repairers re-pairers that preference must be given to repair of motor-driven farm machinery over attention to pleasure autos. Serving of the notice resulted from complaint com-plaint made by a southern Utah farmer, who told Mr. Jensen that when he took his farm tractor to an automobile repairer re-pairer for necessary overhauling the repair re-pair man declined to afford the service until he had finished work, on several - pleasure cars. Mr. Jensen says pleasure machines must await in the background as long as there is farm machinery to be repaired to expedite production of crops. That the closing hours for retail business busi-ness houses in Utah, established by the commercial economy board last Saturday, will prove agreeable to owners and managers man-agers of such institutions is indicated in numerous telephone calls of congratulation congratula-tion received yesterday by Commissioner W. F. Jensen at the capitol. Employees are quite as enthusiastic over the new regulations as are employers. Commissioner Commission-er Jensen says. It is anticipated that reducing re-ducing the time occupied by shopping and shopkeeping will prove of great benefit to the state, in that it will give additional hours to other necessary work. Mr. Jensen says he will soon announce where citizens who have been saving cast-off cast-off clothing and rags will be able to dis-t, dis-t, pose of thern. Meantime he asks the peo- ifijf pie to exercise patience, but to continue saving their rags, which are to be sold for the benefit of the Re Cross. Saving time by prompt "spotting" of rreisht cars by railroads and their immediate im-mediate unloading by shippers is to be one of the commercial economy movements move-ments to be looked after at once by Mr. Jensen. Complaints were received simultaneously simul-taneously yesterday from the railroads and the shippers, each accusing the other of delay. Mr. Jensen will make it a point to at once get the difficulty straightened out. |
