O'Brien and family have moved to their country home In Cottonwood. Mrs. Mars- M. F. Allen of Redlands. Cal.. is visiting her sister. Mrs. George Hancock, on Seventh East street Miss Alice Maud Brown and son. Charles, have returned to New York and Boston to make their home. Mrs. Brown has been art instructor at the University of Utah for the past two years. Mrs. Sherman T. Armstrong, wife of Captain Armstrong, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Benner X. Smith. Captain Armstrong Is at an Atlantic seaport, ready to sail for duties overseas. Mrs. Joseph IJppman has gone to San Francisco to spend some time. Setting for Soldier's Wedding A MILITARY note prevailed in the wedding of Miss Man,' Johnson and Lieutenant Harold Jennings, which , took place yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson, on Fourth avenue. W. W. Riter, an uncle of the bride, performed the ceremony in the presence pres-ence of close relatives. A buffet luncheon followed. Blue corn-flowers, red peonies and white syringa carried out a patriotic decorative deco-rative scheme in the living room, where the ceremony took place. American flags and the uniform of the bridegroom further fur-ther emphasized the military atmosphere. -V t,a?et syrintra, with a green tulle ' j&Zw on the handle, was the centerpiece for v r the luncheon table. F The bride wore an afternoon frock of imported white lace with gold trimmings, . f with a picture hat of white lace, and car-! car-! ried a shower of bride's roes and lilies i of the valley. She was unattended. Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Johnson in receiving re-ceiving the guests were Mr. and -Mrs. Harold P. Jennings, parents of the bridegroom, bride-groom, and Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Riter. Members of the bride's sorority, the Delta Epsilon, assisted in the dining room. The couple left on an afternoon train for San Diego, where Lieutenant Jennings Jen-nings is an instructor in an officers' training train-ing camp. The bride's going-away gown was of dark blue serge with hat to match. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Riter. Mr. and Mrs. Harold P. Jennings, Miss Maye Riter and Miss Claire Riter gave a tea Sunday afternoon in honor of the bride and bridegroom at the Riter home on East First South street. Purple and white summer sum-mer flowers adorned the rooms. A low bowl of pansies was the centerpiece for the tea table. Mrs. Le Roy Dinwoodey, Mrs. Isaac Jennings Jen-nings and Mrs. James A. Eidredge presided pre-sided at the tea table and were assisted i in serving by Miss Helen Jennings, Miss Smurthwaite and the members of the Delta Epsilon sorority, of which the bride is a member. Miss Leola Schrac"k,fa bride of the early summer, was the guest of honor at a. dinner din-ner given at the Newhouse hotel last night by the teachers of the Bryant and Lowell schools. Covers were laid for thirty at one long table. Crystal baskets of red roses at intervals along the table formed an effective decorative scheme. The piece cards were bride's bouquets. Miss Naomi Tin gey, a bride of the week, entertained yesterday afternoon at a trousseau tea at her home, 130 North Second Sec-ond West street. About seventy-five guests callea between the hours of 4 and 6 o'clock to inspect the dainty trousseau. Snow and Miss Helen Hanna. Thirty-five close friends of he bride were in attendance. In honor of Miss Thelma Robbins, a bride of the week, Mrs. J. E. Davis entertained en-tertained at her home on Brooks avenue yesterday afternoon with a kensington tea and recipe shower. A red and white color scheme was developed with red and white sweet peas and red hearts. The tea table had a miniature bride and bridegroom as a centerpiece, surrounded by crystal baskets of the red and white sweet peas. A shower of red hearts was suspended from the chandelier. Fleetwood Fleet-wood of St. Mark's cathedral, in the presence pres-ence of relatives and close friends. Many will call at the Sarah Daft home this afternoon with offerings of thrift stamps to swell the endowment fund of the home. Residents of the home will assist as-sist in the sale of stamps. The Salt Lake alumni who hold degrees from the University of Chicago will meet informally at the Rotisserie inn at 6:30 p. m., Saturday, to celebrate the annual alumni day. The entertainment will be simultaneous with the alumni dinner being held on the campus at the University of Chicago, and all those holding hold-ing degrees are expected to bring their respective wives and husbands to join in the good fellowship. The committee in charge finds its list is inaccurate, and with the purpose of revising this list it is requested that all holding degrees from the University of Chicago notify Henry M. Adkinson. So many acceptances are in hand that an enthusiastic reunion Is already assured, and this will be a real Chicago "get-together" meeting in the spirit of the campus days in the quadrangles. quad-rangles.
