Show jia e cross MM HIGH Salt Lake Chapter Receives Well Finished Rugs and Blankets. Students of the liast and West high schools, the Lafter-duy Saints' uni-erslty and the Granite high school' yesterday turned over to Salt Lake county chapter i of Uie Red Cross an assortment of five j rugs and two convalescent hospital blank- ' ets that are' remarkable for excellence of workmanship. They were made in ac-cordeuca ac-cordeuca "with special instructions received re-ceived from national headquarters, conforming con-forming to stipulated patterns in design and colors. The material used in the rugs was largely braided from silk stockings stock-ings and the finished goods are evidence of the utmost care and patience. Other Junior Red Cross work turned In yesterday included eight afghans, on comfort and twelye knitted square wmps, made by children ef primary grades of the city schools. Request is officially made that all who signed edge -cards in connection with the recent -war fund drive make their pajments at the Commercial club, as Oils organization has the matter in charge. A check for J-iS.21 from the Garlock Packing company. Palmyra, N. Y., was received yesterday at local headquarters for the Salt Lake chapter. This company, com-pany, it is stated, donates about $1000 a month to the Red Cross and scatters the donations so no section of the country is overlooked. Ten standard cases of finished goods were shipped yesterday to division headquarters head-quarters at Denver, the local supply department de-partment regarding this as a fair begin- ning for the month. 1 Following is a partial list of the finished articles turned in yesterday: Garfield branch, sixty-one suits of pajamas, 1U7 bed shirts, one surgeon's gown, three sweaters, twenty-four pairs of socks. Thirteenth ward, fifty-eight pairs of socks, six suits of pajamas. Draper Mothers' club auxiliary, eleven pairs of socks, three pairs of bed socks. Kagles women's auxiliary, five pairs of socks, nine bed shirts. Ensign Stake Relief society auxiliary. Eighteenth ward, six bed shirts, fifty-one tray cloths, four pairs I of socks. Phillips Congregational church auxiliary, thirty-eight paars of socks, twelve bed shirts, six suits of pajamas, one Belgian cape. Daughters of the Indian In-dian War Veterans' auxiliary, eighteen pairs of socks. Five, little girls of the " Junior Red Cross, residing in the western part of the citv yesterday turned in ?4.2S, collected col-lected for the drive fund after the campaign cam-paign had been officially closed. They were cordially thanked and notified to refrain from making any more "drive" collections. The second day of business at the Red Cross shoo in Recent street proved a decided success, customers beinq present pres-ent during the open hours of 10 until o o'clock. While donations of any salable articles will be thankfully received, the call Is especially urgent for goods suitable suit-able for children and infants. s ; . |
