On a presidential warrant George Wendling, a barber from Logan, was yesterday yes-terday ordered interned at Fort Douglas as a dangerous enemy alien. Investigation Investiga-tion by the department of Justice developed devel-oped the fact that Wendling was lru-terned lru-terned two years ago at W innipeg as a dangerous alien, after having registered as a German. After remaining in the internment prison for a period of three months he was released on the claim that he was not a subject of Germany, but was a native of France, the Canadian government having failed to mae any further investigation. Vendling registered regis-tered at Ixan as a German ai'en. Tt was shown by the investigations of the department of justice that Weafllin? had offered advice to numerous men of draft ae as to the manner in which the draft could be defeated, and, that he made the suggestion that hy drinking strong coffee in the evening the heart would show a weakness in tiie morning which would be pronounced by the examining exam-ining surgeon as excellent grounds for rejection from the military service. |
