Funeral services will be held for George J. Evans, who died Tuesday, at 12 noon tomorrow in the Twenty-second ward meeting house. Mr. Evans was the son of the late George L. and Lucy Lee Evans, coming to Salt Lake with his parents in 1887 from Rexburg, Idaho, where he was born May S, 18S5. He was educated in the public schools of this city, being a most popular member of the Salt Lake high school graduating class of 1903. He then entered the law office of Judge W. H. King, later entering the employ of the Denver & Rio Grande railroad, in the roadmaster's department. Since then he has worked for the Salt Lake Copper company, and went with Mr. McCafferty to the Jesse Knight Smelter company at Silver City. Returning to Salt Lake, he formed a partnership with the late J. W. Lee, his uncle, and for some time conducted the Uneeda market on West South Temple street. Later he moved to Eiackfoot, Tdaho, and conducted the Blackfoot market. Monday last he entered en-tered the hospital and died on Tuesday. On June 14, 1911, Mr. Evans married Minnie Blanch Brown, who survives him, as do two children by the marriage. His sister, Lucile Evans Brown, also survives sur-vives him. |
