Show SAY DEPUTY SHERIFF CONDUCTED A GAME Purity Squad Raids Premises and Gathers In Six Alleged Offenders. Bfx men, one of whom is said to he a. local deputy sheriff, were arrested at 10-30 o'clock last night by Plain Clothes-men Clothes-men Burbidse, Watts and Sehettler of the polioe department purity squad, when they raided the premises at 553 West Second fouth street. According to the officers, when they arrived on the scene Deputy Sheriff "William "Wil-liam Kayia-s was found to be conducting the game. The officers seized three tables, ta-bles, the chips and cards and $12.05 In cash, which they are holding as evidence. When booked at the police station the offenders all claimed to be Greeks, the man alleged to be Deputy Sheriff Kayias piving the name of Andrew Pappas, but the arresting officers claim to know him and say they are certain of their man. Including these six men, a total of ten arrests, made In two raids, was the result re-sult of the police campaign against gambling gam-bling last night, four others being arrested ar-rested earlier in the evening during a raid at 259 South Main street. |
