Show DRAFT BOARD WILL iSSISTJLIGIIlLES Lay Plans to Aid in the Interpretation In-terpretation of Questionnaire. Ques-tionnaire. Paving the way for a comprehensive understanding of the questionnaire which will be mailed within a short time to all of the men called for military duty under un-der the selective draft law, and that the questions may be answered fully and Intelligently, Parley L. Williams, chairman chair-man of the district exemption board; Dan B. Shields, attorney general, and Charles L. Pollings wort h, an attorney of Ogdon, held a meeting in the office of Mr. Williams Wil-liams yesterday morning, having been named, with W. YV. Kiter of ike Deseret National bank, to provide means for assisting as-sisting drafted men in interpretation of the questionnaire. Under the power vested in it. the committee com-mittee made a selection of three lawyers living within tho jurisdiction of each of the local dra ft boards throughout the state, to constitute a board of legal advice, ad-vice, the services of which shall be free to drafted men in aiding them properly to understand and reply to the questions submitted to them. The members of each local draft board will be held responsible, in connection with the second draf t, for the appointment appoint-ment of additional lawyers, in addition to the three constituting the lesal board, to give advice free to all registrants within the jurisdiction of that district, and to aid in tne classification of drafted men according to the provisions of the new regulations. The committee which met yesterday will at once submit to Governor Bamberger a list of lawyers for each local draft district dis-trict legal board, and the governor will submit them to President Wilson for final approval. Under this system advice will be furnished, fur-nished, free of cost to all men called under un-der the selective draft, and none will be required to stand the expense of preparing prepar-ing affidavits or for acknowledgments. |
