Show SOPHS II OPENING j 1010 SERIES' GAME; Bury Freshman Girls Under Avalanche; Juniors and Seniors Play Today. Jn the first game of the "world's series" se-ries" at the Fast high school, the sophomores sopho-mores yesterday swamped the freshmen, 4I to 10. The sophs whanged the sphere all over the place, and the only question after the first inning was how large a score would be run up. In the first inning the sophomores look a lead when they tallied thrice and shut Out the freshies. The sophs scored lour tallies in t lie second inning, but the. freshies gave them quite a scare when they made five runs. However, from that time on the eophs continued to increase in-crease their lead. The fifth inning proved the climax. Tn that frame the sophs ran wild on the bases, and when the smoke had cleared away twenty -one sophomores had safely crossed the home pan. In the sixth the sophs rang the bell nine times and after the freshies made two runs the game was called on account of darkness. The entire sophomore team, under the direction of Captain Gertrude Martin, worked together well and they look like contenders for the title. Svlvia Fuller, at first base, n roved the mainstay of Hhe infants. She accepted numerous hard chances and saved her mates many errors on wild throws and by brilliant catches. The juniors and seniors will clash this afternoon. The juniors, as sophomores last season, won the series in 1916, and, as most of last year's players are again on the club, they hope to take another title.
