An agreement was reached yesterday afternoon between the members of the public utilities commission that when the commission is organized on April 2 Judge Joshua Greenwood of Sevier county shall be permanent chairman of the commission. Announcement to this effect was made yesterday, following an informal get-acquainted gathering of the commissioners commis-sioners at the eapitol. The meeting was held in the office of Attorney General Dan B. Shields and was callM by the attorney general for the purpose of making mak-ing the members of the commission acquainted ac-quainted with each other and to go over with them the details of the utilities utili-ties act. There were present at the meeting J udge Greenwood, Warren Stoutnour, Hcnrv II. Blood, Attorney General Dan B. Shields and Deputy Attorney At-torney General .lames H. Wolfe. The meeting lasted about an hour, during which time the act was under informal discussion, and organization was not considered. Following this meeting however, the members of the commission went to the third floor, where they picked out offices in the rooms formerly occupied by the state eapitol commission, rooms 324 and 326. These rooms are to be the permanent quarters of the commission. While looking over the rooms it was suggested by Mr. Stoutnour that an informal in-formal organization might be formed. He said he was ready to agree upon a chairman, and Blood announced that it would not take him two seconds to agree. Mr. Stoutnour then suggested that Judge Greenwood be chairman of the commission when it was formally organized. Mr. Blood agreed and it was so agreed all round. The commissioners will meet again Saturday morning in the new commission commis-sion quarters for the purpose of dis-, dis-, cussing informally further details of organization. or-ganization. No announcement has been made as yet as to who may 'be chosen as secretary of the commission or what other employees will be named. The members of the commission will hold a number of informal meetings before be-fore April 2. |
