Show JOSEPH H. MELLEN DIES AT RESIDENCE Well-known Salt Lake Contractor and Mining Man, Born in Trip Across Prairies, Succumbs. Joseph H. Mellen, 68 years of age, who was born in an emigrant wagon at Winter Quarters, Neb., while on tho way to this state, died yesterday at the family residence, 570 West First North street. He was the son of John and Jane Ramsden Mellen. Two sons, Joseph W. and Frank Mellen Mel-len of Salt Lake, and three daughters, Miss Inez Mellen and Mrs. Fred Harris Har-ris of Salt Lake and Mrs. Edith Moor-house Moor-house of Seattle, Wash., survive. The following sisters also survive: Alice Perkins, Catherine Ann Coon, Elizabeth Margetts, Sarah Mitchell, Martha , Howell and Mary Bouck. Mr. Mellen engaged in contracting work and mining, making his home in Salt Lake. In 1870 he married Martha Cumberland, who died about eight years ago. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. |
