Show PLEASANT SURPRISE IS GIVEN TO LUKE A pleasant suprise waa given to I. H. Luke, the retiring superintendent of the Salt Lake division of the Denver & Rio Grande railroad, who resigned to take charge- of the operations of the Utah railroad. rail-road. His associates and men hold him In high esteem and, in evidence of their regard, a company of Rio Grande officials offi-cials E. W. Deuel, the new superintendent; superintend-ent; D. E. "Wilcox, assistant superintendent; superintend-ent; J. E. Snyder, traveling engineer; W. J. Bennett, master mechanic; A. J. Cro-nln, Cro-nln, D. A. Fitzgerald, L. R. Brown and T. J. Halpin of the local official force called on Mr. Luke last evening and presented pre-sented to him, in behalf of his old associates, asso-ciates, a beautiful leather chair and an equipped traveling bag. The presentation was made by Mr. Wilcox and the recipient recipi-ent spoke his appreciation. Mr. Luke is one of the oldest officials or ine tio uranae ana nas Deen in cnarge of this division since the opening of the Soldier Summit detour. His middle initial ini-tial was given to him by E. E. Calvin, president of the Union Pacific, who appointed ap-pointed him. when a young man, as train dispatcher on the Missouri Pacific.
