Show DOOR TAKEN FROM HINGES FOR PEACE Two Janitors Fail to Agree as to Whether It Should Be Closed or Left Ajar. "William McKenna, janitor on the city side of the City and County building, and Henry --Savage, custodian on the county side, had considerable argument yesterday as to whether or not the door of the custodian's room should be left open. Mr. Savage insisted that he wanted want-ed the door open. Mr. McKenna insisted in-sisted that the keeping of it open resulted re-sulted in egTess of fumes from the custodian's cus-todian's room arising from paints, varnishes var-nishes and deodorizers stored there. He protested on the ground that these fumes were wafted across the narrow hallway into the room where he and the janitors jani-tors of the city side have their quarters. In accordance with his contention, Mr. McKenna repeatedly pulled shut the door of the custodian's room. The caretaker care-taker of the county side flung the door wide open as many times as It was closed. Finally he became impatient and weary of the everlasting opening and shutting. He took the door from its hinges and, carting it away to some secret se-cret recess of the county side of the building, hid it securely. The doorway was open at last reports last night. |
