Iurinn the past week there have been two deaths and seventeen new cases reported from that district. The state board of health for several years has been engaged in warning residents resi-dents of Carbon county of the danger lurking in their haphazard manner of protecting pro-tecting the water supply. The investigation just completed by officials of-ficials and prominent residents of the district dis-trict demonstrated that the water supply Is constantly being polluted by sewage. The water which supplies Price and several sev-eral other communities in the vicinity comes from the Price river and no steps have been taken to eliminate disease germs. At a meeting attended by Dr. T. P.. Beatty and prominent residents, it was decided to take vigorous measures to prevent pre-vent any further spread of the disease. As a matter of precaution. Dr. Beatly ordered residents of Price to boil their drinking water and to take the typhoid vaccination. During the "past four years fifty towns and cities have installed proper water systems, according to the state board secretary. sec-retary. In these sections, he declares, typhoid is practitfilly unknown. The outbreaks out-breaks occur where proper precautions have not been taken by the local officials, he says. |
