Show A Hies W ill Land on Belgian Coast, Is Germany9 sF ear Gigantic Bombardment of Teutonic j Lines in Flanders Has Been in Progress Since Last Saturday. By LEONARD SPRAY. (Special Cable by Arrangement with Loudon Daily Telegraph and International News Service.) T OTTERDAM, Oct. 2. This is Field Marshal von Hindenburg's birthday anniversary and by order of the authorities Berlin is flag-bedecked and the children have been given a holiday. Meanwhile, the allies' guns are roaring even at the future doom of the German people. The artillery bombardment of continuous character is no longer limited to the Somme front. The German positions po-sitions in Flanders also are being subjected to gunfire, that has been unbroken since Saturday morning. Last night observers on the Dutch frontier saw on the far-away skyline reflections of flashes which made a continuous glow on the westward horizon, occasionally stabbed through by searchlights along the Belgian coast, where the Germans appear to be in a state of tense expectancy. |
