Show entries are urbe I i POraDMSIOLJ Exhibition at State Fair This Year Will Establish ; j New Record. ; Entries in the poultry division of the ' Utah State fair this year are so large thai the one building heretofore used has proveJ Inadequate and three buildings : will have lo be used. j As a result of the increased interest in poultry exhibits, local fanciers are pre- 1 paring to go before the legislature next January and aslt an appropriation to con- i struct a new and larger poultry building : at the fair grounds, it is announced. This year there have been 3ilJ birds entered in the exhibits, as against 942 a year ago, Fanciers not only in Utah, but ; from a number of outside states, have evidenced an interest in the show this year, with the result that the entries have been much in excess of any previous pre-vious year. 1 1-Jntries have been made this year from Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming and California. Nebraska has entered 717 birds. K. N. Quay of Laporte, Ind., and M. t A. Cromwell of Missoula, Mont., have i been chosen Judges of the poultry show j this year. A feature at the fair this year will be a special tire station for protection ! against possible fires. This has bee-n ar- I ranged by Chief W. H. Bywater. The I reserve chemical engine and reserve hose wagon from the city department will be . stationed at the fair and will be manned by men from the various city stations, j This arrangement,, it is considered, will , give; the fair ample fire protection and at the same time not weaken the de- i partment in the city. 1 The executive committee of the fair yesterday named W. J. Tuddenham, assistant as-sistant supervisor of the horse department, depart-ment, to work under J. K Langford, supervisor. |
