Manager layman explained that his Information In-formation was to the effect that the car of oil needed for the continued operation of the gas plant Thursday had arrived in this city Wednesday afternoon, but through failure of its delivery in the yards of the gas company before late afternoon of the next day the shortage of gas was brought on. Mr. Fynian reminded the commissioners that the service failure of Thursday is the first that has ever been of sufficient extent in twelve years to arouse extensive complaints against the gas company. com-pany. As a result of the information brought out in the meeting, letters were written yesterday by Commissioner Herman II. Green as acting head of the department of public safety to t he managements of tho railroads. The. letters Informed the managements of the findings of the commission com-mission and requested precaution against recurrence of the dilemma in the future. Kyman. general manager of the Utah Gas & Coke company, to inquire into the reason for the gas shortage yesterday yes-terday (Thanksgiving day, Mr. Kyman Ky-man stated that the trouble was occasioned oc-casioned by a shortage of crude oil at the gas plant; he stated further that his company had a car of oil in the rairroad yards, but was unable to get it switched to their plant for several hours, notwithstanding repeated efforts ef-forts on their part. Without passing on the merits of this contention, the commissioners feel impelled to bring to your personal attention the matter of securing prompt handling of necessary supplies for all public utility concerns furnishing fur-nishing commodities essential to the comfort and convenience of our citizens. citi-zens. The commissioners feel, also, that there should be no occasion for a repetition of yesterday's unfortunate occurrence on account of reasons advanced ad-vanced as responsible for it, and earnestly bespeak your company's cooperation co-operation to assure this.
