Show CANADA'S REVENUE IS STILL GROWING Total for the Past Eight Months Is Largest In ths History of the Dominion. OTTAWA, Ont., Dec. 1. Notwithstanding Notwith-standing the war, Canada's revenue continues to gTow, according to figures made public here today. For the eight months ended November 30, the revenue of the Dominion totaled $114,812,570, which is the largest eight months ' period in the history of the countrv, it was stated, and more than $40,000,000 greater than the income for the same period in 1915. The total for November was $23,164,765, a betterment of $5,000,-000 $5,000,-000 over the same month last year. There is to be further curtailment of expenditures on Canadian public works, it was also announced. Work on the new Welland canal will be discontinued this month and will not be resumed until January.' The programme pro-gramme for construction of this work was estimated to cost $50,000,000. Expenditure on the Hudson Bay rail way will be curtailed considerably, although al-though work on the project will not.be entirely suspended. The railway, 400 miles in length, was to have cost $30,-000,000, $30,-000,000, while the work of constructing the Hudson Bay terminal at Port Nelson was to have cost $20,000,000. |
