Show TOlEGlDE FATE OF" ALLEW'S MUeGERERS Board to Sit in Cases of Harry Brewer and Frank De Pretto. fates of Harry Brewer and Frank De Pretto, convicted murderers of Eugene Allen at Bingham, is scheduled to be decided at a special meeting of the state hoard of pardons to be held at 10 o'clock this morning in tho o&iee of Governor William Spry. , fn view ot" tho fact that tinal action 1 haw been continued three times previous-; Iv and that there is. a regular meeting ; of the board on December lb", it is not impossible, it is said, that there may be j a further continuance today, though the matter waR-continued from the last regular regu-lar meeting to this special meeting with tho idea that final action would be taken at this time. Members of the board, of course, are not prepared to say positively that final action will or will not bo taken. Strong efforts have boon made by prominent citizens, and especially by women of the city, to secure a commutation commu-tation of sentence for lirewer, since he made a complete statement of his career. While the board hay listened to all the pleas that have been made in Brewer's behalf, it has also considered the matter from the standpoint of the mother and family of Allen, who was shot down without warning almost, and the members of the board admit that the case ia one that is not easy to settle. The board has considered the case of Brewer and that of his alleged partner, De Pretto. on three occasions, but each time has been unprepared to take final action and reprieves have been granted the condemned men each time until the next meeting of the board. The last extension of reprieve granted on the third Saturday of November expires ex-pires today and tho hoard must either take final action on the two cases today or else grant a further extension of reprieve re-prieve to the two men. |
