In order to pave the way for the animal an-imal industry board bill, the livestock committee of the senate will report unfavorably Hideout's bill increasing the appropriation for the state livestock inspector. Chairman J. W. Thoruley ill connection connec-tion therewith, announced yesteray that the livestock committee would hold a public hearing on the animal industry bill Thursday night in the senate chamber. The" hearing will begin be-gin at 7:o0 o'clock. The animal industry measure is senate sen-ate bill No. .117, introduced by Senator Thoruley, and provides for a consolidation consolida-tion of the board of sheep commissioners commission-ers and the state livestock board under the title of stato board of animal industries. in-dustries. State supervision of the sheep industry, the cattle industry and the hog industry would, all be directed by the newly created board of three commissioners.' The state livestock inspector in-spector and his deputies would work under the direction of this commission. I There is said to be considerable sen-Itiment sen-Itiment in favor of consolidation of the two boards; also, there is some opposition oppo-sition to it. Arguments both for and against the bill will be heard by the committee Thursday night. The committee set the time for the hearing at a meeting yesterday, when it was decided to report unfavorably upon the Eideout bill. This report was determined upon in view of the preference for the animal industry commission bill. The livestock committee will report unfavorably upon Hansen's senate bill No. 102, providing that all lands must be fenced where damages for trespass of animals is sought. |
