Show MARKET FOB WHEAT SOMEW BETTER Signs of a Renewal of Exports; Ex-ports; Leading Staples Show Net Gains. CHICAGO. March 6. Signs of a renewal re-newal of exports gave tho wheat market today an upward slant- Closing prices were steady, iJc to ?ie over last night. Other leading staples, too, all showed a net gain corn a shade to ic, oats ic, and provisions 715c. Best prices for wheat came after word was received that ' ocean freight room had been engaged oa a liberal scale in the east. At, the samo time, a northwestern north-western exporter declared that business with Europeans was being done in new crop winter wheat. Leading firms here. . however, in touch -with the foreign trade, asserted that trans-Atlantic bids continued con-tinued to be out of line. Q On. account of six days' decline, wheat offerings appeared to bo seriously diminishing, dimin-ishing, and this fact was of considerable help to the bulla. So, also, was a decided de-cided falling oft' in receipts northwest Besides, shorts -were inclined to even up In readiness for the government tomorrow tomor-row on farm reserves. Tho unexcelled crop outlook, though, and the abnormally abnormal-ly large acreage, with no abandonment reported, had a constant tendency to restrict the market advance. In the face of heavy selling by the chief bull interest In corn, commission houses bought freely on account of predictions pre-dictions that receipts during March and April would not exceed a third of the total a year ago. It was contended that the profit in feeding corn to cattle and hogs at present prices justified farmers in withholding shipments. Threats that Canadian competition in oats would become be-come acute as soon as navigation opens, did not prevent that cereal from sympathizing sympa-thizing with corn. Higher prices at the yards lifted provisions. pro-visions. Packers were fair sellers oa the bulge. ) RANGE OF THE LEAKING FUTURES. Wheit Opsa. Hlch. Low. Cloi..
