Show DETECTIVE FOILED BY HIS CAPTIVE Alleged Pickpocket Sheds Overcoat and Dodges Successfully Through, Main, Street Crowd. Two years ago the "Gold-tooth Kid" oscaped from Detective W. C. Zeeso in the open street while being taken to police headquarters. It was vith satisfaction that the sleuth dropped his hand upon the soulder of the "Kid" at Second South and Main streets yesterday morning. Tho dctoc-tive dctoc-tive led the alleged pickpocket to the nearest alarm box and proceeded to turn in a wagon call. Then the clover crook showed not only his gold tooth, but his natural oneB in a fighting snarl, while almost wiih ono quick movement ho pooled out of his overcoat on which tho clutch of the detective was fastened and cast the coat blanket-like over the head of the officer. A chase up Main street followed. The "Kid" mado better speod through tho crowd than the detective could, because be-cause of a considerable difference in avordupois. Blowing hard, the detective detec-tive requisitioned a private automobile and followed tho fleeing man to First South street, west to Pichards street and through Richards street to South Temple street. There tho trace was lost. Detectivo Zeeso went back to headquarters grimly determined to wait for tho proverbial third time. |
