The state road commissioners and the state road ongiucer aro planning to complete the highway this summer. Funds for tho highway have been raised by a special appropriation by tho state, an equal appropriation by tho county and a 5-mill tax in tho districts dis-tricts through which the road is to be built. Work began on the highwa3' last summer, when the road through Parley's Par-ley's canyon was widened and straightened straight-ened out to some extent. The road will extend from the mouth of Parley's canyon, west on Twelfth South, keeping keep-ing a more or less direct routo across tho county to the point of .the mountains moun-tains at the south end of tho lako. Tooele county plans to moot the new highway with an equally good road running farther west, and south, and Summit, county will meet the eastern terminal with an excellent road all the way to Park City. Some question has arison as to the legality of the 5-mill tax paid by property prop-erty owners in tho district affected and formal protest lias been made to the county against the tax. Tho money collected, howovor, lias been paid over to the stato road commission, which proposes to make the improvement without awaiting tho outcomo of possible pos-sible litigation. |
