Tt was stated at the local qfiiccs of the com-pany com-pany that while nothing new devclopod yesterday, it is probablo that the trouble trou-ble will be settled by arbitration. Managor Elias Ashton of the stone convpuny said yesterday that the contract con-tract with -lames Stewart & Co., contracting con-tracting company, would not bo affected affect-ed as, by a contract provision, no time lost on account of strikes is counted. Work at tho quarries continues as usual. The stonecutters went on a strike Tuesday because it was claimed that two employees were discharged without .iust cause. Ouorgu Curley, superintendent superinten-dent of the Midvalc plant, expressed the opinion that tho trouble will be .settled .set-tled satisfactorily soon. |
