Show Local Securities John C. Culler. Jr., Investment banker and banker, in his weekly trade letter, writes as follows: Tim progress thai has been made along tho lines of Improvement in business conditions con-ditions throughout ihe United States Is being maintained and trade operations show a much bettor feeling than has prevailed pre-vailed since the beginning of the year. In Kuiope the Industrial disorders arc causing much anxiety as the coal miners' strike in England Is assuming grave proportions pro-portions In closing so many mills and factories fac-tories and Mclng up the business of that country. In Germany there arc new strikes; the Italian-Turkish war is not settled yet, and it looks as if England and Russia will extend thoir spheres of influence over the whole of Persia. In this country there Is considerable political politi-cal agitation, while in Iexlco new outbreaks out-breaks arc continually occurring. Local trade conditions arc fairly good in L"tah. Jobbers and retailers report business busi-ness about normal and probably a trille better lhan at this time last year. Many new orders for actual requirements arc being placed. Collections show some improvement, im-provement, while money Is In fair demand de-mand with sufficient fundi) to meet legitimate legi-timate requirements. Retter prices are. being received for lead, copper and wool, which is quite encouragins:. Local stocks and bonds continue lo bo in fair demand and several small sales were made during tho week. Tho State bank and t'lah National bouk will soon be consolidated and the name, of the n"v institution will be the Utah Slate National bank. The bonds of the local street railway company arc in fair demand on our local market and ran he. sold at the so mo piicei; that they will bring on the eastern east-ern markets. II is hHidly thought possible that the grcal home Industry of making jiugar from bet-ts will be snuffed out of existence bv political Uiriff trickster:. Securities.
