Show ILLIffl SIEGEL . IS FOUND GUILTY Federal Court Jury Convicts Alleged "White Slaver" on Six Counts. William Siegel of Denver, charged on six different counts with being a "white slaver" by bringing Matilda Anderson Into Salt Lake City from Denver for Immoral Im-moral purposes, was convicted ou every count of the indictment by a Jury in tho federal court yesterday, after a trial lasting last-ing four days. The Jury was out a little less than four hours when the verdict was returned, Siegel received the verdict of conviction convic-tion without betraying any emotion. He will be sentenced Saturday morning, as will Eugene Y. Hughes, the Korean who faced a similar charge, and who, after remaining In Jail here for sevoral weeks, changed his plea from one of not guilty to one of guilty. Hughes, when called for sentence yesterday, made a statement to the court which might Indicate that ho 'was not altogether at fault in the offenso of which ho confessed guilt, and the postponement post-ponement of passing of sentence until Saturday was therefore ordered bv Judge Page Morris. After the conclusion of thu Siegel case the work of getting a Jury was begun in tho case of the United States against Herbert Gould, May Brown and Raymond Thompson, all of whom are charged Jointly Joint-ly with Importing Cora E. Ftohm from Pocatello, Ida., to Suit Lako City for immoral im-moral purposes. The imuel was not yet filled when court rose for tho day. |
