Unqualified opposition to the "boy scout" movement on tho ground that capitalists am seeking to train the. youth of the laud so that they will, be ready to shoot down working men in euso of serious labor troubles, wai voiced in a resolution adopted yesterday yester-day 13' the recently organized System Federation which has for a week, through nearly 100 delegates, been holding a convention in Salt Lake City, most of the sessions being executivt and secret. John Scott, tho secret nrv of I hi System Federation, said last night, speaking as chairman of the publicity committee: "Most of our members are Social ists. and as such wc are firmly opposed to affording the boys n opportunity of military training which is inculcated incul-cated for the purpose of making them available to shoot us down in times of labor troubles." Support McNamara Brothers, Other resolutions adopted pledged the moral and financial support of the federation to the McNamara brothers who are charged with the dynamiting of tho Times .building in Los Angeles and who arc now awaiting trial on the charge of murder in the firse degrco. and condemned the employment of non-union labor at any time or place where it was possible for the employer co secure .union workmen. This System Federation, which represents rep-resents the boilennakers and helpers, the carmen, the blacksmiths and helpers, help-ers, the international Association of Machinists, the sheet metal workers and the stcamfittors who are employees of the ITarriman lines west of the iIis-souri iIis-souri rivor. includes in its membership several thousand workers, and while affiliated in a general way with the American Federation of Labor, has its own independent organization and will act on its own initiative in all matters mat-ters pertaining to such labor questions as arise among the crafts under its control. Two lengthy sessions of the System Federation were hold yesterday at Federation of Labor hall', both morning morn-ing and afternoon being occupied with the discussion of various problems growing out of the relations Jbetwcon employers and employees. To Avoid Disputes. Sccretnry Scott explained thnt virtually vir-tually all of the matters under consideration consid-eration had no public interest, being largely technical in their nature. He said, however, that the general sentiment sen-timent was tli at controversy should ae far as possible, be avoided and that the adjustment of disagreements between employers and employees should as far as poHsible be settled by a committee of the System Federation selected from the locality whore the trouble existed. The advisory board held a brief session ses-sion last night at the Wilson hotel, but did nothing more than go over and approve ap-prove the work of the mass convention accomplished during the day. After the adjournment of" tho federation feder-ation meeting at Labor hall in the afternoon af-ternoon the carmen's section held a meeting at. the Cullcn hotel at which thej' endorsed the work of ,T . .7. A number of the delegates left the city last night, but a majority will remain re-main here for a day to visit the various resorts or attend the outing of the union miners at "Wan dam ere.
