Whon seen by a Tribune representative Monday nlffhL Governor Brady talked in an enthusiastic way of the prospects in tho lntermountaln states for the wind-tip wind-tip of tho year 1011 in a business way. Ho said: "I am In Salt Lake to meet the officers of the railroads who arc here to attend the convention of the Transcontinental Passenger association and to discuss with thorn something of the plans of tho Western Development league to send a special train oast this fall to exploit tho resources of thn west. I want to say that the railroads aro doing their part in forwarding the plans of the league. At a recent meeting of the executive committee at Portland a number of railroad rail-road offieors were present, and they aro working in harmony with the league to make the venture a success. Undoubtedly Undoubt-edly the train will go east to present to tho east in a unique way the possibilities of the great western country. Oonflclent of Success. "After consulting with the passenger men I will take the matter up at length with the presidents of the roads interested. inter-ested. I am confident of success in everything tho development league in-dcrlakcs. in-dcrlakcs. Wo had a big, fine meeting at Portland a few weeks ago. Utah was well represented in the meeting by the secretary of your Commercial club. Joseph Jo-seph E. Cnlnc. He was one of the best boosters at tho meeting, and when ho starts out to represent Utah In such matters mat-ters none need fear but that Utah's Interests In-terests will be looked after with intelligence intelli-gence and diligence. "Now a word, if you will, about Idaho Never in the history of the state has there been such prospects for big crops The Irrigated land. If possible, will yield heavier crops nnd there arc thousands more acres under cultivation now than a. very few years ago. Dry farm crops look better than over. From the outlook. out-look. I should say the crops of Idaho this year will bo from 15 to 20 per cent heavier than last year. Likes New Hotel. "What do I think of this hotel? I have in tho last few months lived a week at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York, a week in the Now Wllkird hotel at Washington City and a week in the Blackstone In Chicago. In many ways the Hotel Utah Is ahead of them all. The ,IIotol Utah is built along western ideas of expansion. Nothing like this lobby is seen in the big eastern hotels. "Too much cannot bo said of this fine hotel. It is a benefit to Salt Lake and the entire lntermountaln country. I have been shown through the floors of guests' rooms and they are far ahead of tho eastern hotels I mentioned. I would say more good things about it. but I am afraid the management would raise the price on me.1' |
