Show KM WOULD STAY WITH n CUBS Famous Catcher Declines to Play With Boston Club. CHICAGO. June 12. Chicago National Na-tional league players, when informed yesterday that John Kling refused to play any longer with the Boston club, to which he was traded Saturda3', attributed at-tributed Ivling's action to a long cherished cher-ished determination to play only with tho Chicago club. Kling on Saturday appeared satisfied satis-fied with the deal a'nd seemed willing to join Boston and give the team his best efforts. After having time to think it over ho evidently changed his mind and decided to retire or cIeo get a larger salary. He, is said to have told some of his friends on the Cub team thnt he ought to have more money and that he would refuse to report re-port unless he got it. This apparent change of front l3' Kling, it is claimed by tho Cub management, man-agement, did not affect tho status of the deal beyond giving the other parties par-ties who are coutendiug for control of thu Boston club a footing for argument argu-ment in tho civil courts. Kling 's action in -playing with Boston Bos-ton Saturday probably settles all question ques-tion regarding baseball, as by so doing it is contended he accepted tho deal. |
