Show SERVICE PROMOTION MAIL CLERKS' OBJECT SYRACUSE, N. Y.f June 12. Peter Sehardt. the newly elected president of the National Bail way Mail Clerks' association, as-sociation, gave out the following statement state-ment today beforo leaving for his home in Milwaukee, Wis.: "The moslr important work the new officers- of the association will pursue is nn effort to seen re a service promotion, pro-motion, such as is now in vogue among postoffico-clerks and letter carriers. By this change Ihe men will be advanced according to length of service and work done until the maximum salaries are paid. In addition to this efforts will lie made to increase the traveling expenses ex-penses allowance and to secure federal fed-eral anpropnatious by congress to pay the allowances. "As to the affiliation of the railway rail-way mail clerks' association with the American Federation of Labor, the convention con-vention declared that the railway clerks have no hostility toward organized labor, bur. thai, at "present we can gain nothing by affiliating with such organization. organ-ization.
